We started 1st round action in April with 13 clubs battling for the USASA Amateur Cup for the Fritz Marth Trophy. Those teams were among eight State Associations that qualified through their state competitions. The North semifinal will feature Lansdowne Yonkers FC of Eastern New York against Brockton United FC of Massachusetts. That will set up the encounter against the South semifinalists from Eastern Pennsylvania, rivals West Chester United and Vereinigung Erzgebirge. The semifinals are scheduled for 23 May with the winners meeting on Saturday evening, 19 June at the Ukrainian American Sports Center.
The Werner Fricker Cup also featured 13 teams among entries from eight states. This is our Amateur Open Championship with the winner representing the Region at the Championship of Regions. The semifinals will be an Eastern New York derby in the North with Lansdowne and FC Westchester to meet the New Jersey derby winner between Jackson Lions FC and Clifton Elite. Those semifinals will take place on 6 June.
The Gerhard Mengel Cup is the Over-30 Championship that had 12 that qualified from six State Associations. The semifinals will be this Sunday, 16 May with another Eastern New York derby featuring NY Pancyprian Freedoms against NY Greek American while Christos FC of Maryland will host Ironbound Alumni of New Jersey.
The remaining cup is the National Over-40 Cup that also factored 12 teams from six state qualifiers. The North semifinal is an all Connecticut affair as Fairfield GAC will visit Glastonbury Celtic while in the South, Christos awaits the winner between Renegades of Metro DC/Virginia and West Chester United of Eastern Pennsylvania.
